On the eve of Saturday, March
31st, A.S. XLVI, our barony will be hosting a feast and masked ball
in the tradition of the Venetian celebration of Carnevale.
Join us at Christ United Methodist Church,
12755 NW Dogwood Street, Portland, OR 97229 as we dance, eat, drink
and revel, bringing joy to our corner of the Kingdom.
In addition to dinner and dancing, we’ll be sponsoring competitions
for mask-making and costumes, and the first ever baronial rapier
championship tournament.
The fee for this event is $10 for SCA members, $5 for children
6-17, and free entry for children under 6. Non-SCA members must pay
the additional $5 surcharge. The cost of the feast is broken out to
allow our guests to partake only if they wish at an additional cost
of $10. Children 0-12 may eat free with a registered adult. Teens
eat like adults so they pay like adults.

Visit the Dragon’s Mist website.
Learn a little about the history of Carnevale.
We will be hosting a Venetian mask competition. Create the best
mask as voted upon by the populace in attendance and win!
We will also be hosting a separate costume competition. Come in
your finest, most audacious outfit, as the populace will also be
voting on the best garb.
Our first baronial rapier championship tournament will be held.
Baronial defender Lord Frances D’Arby will select a format and we
look forward to bringing you more details as we are able. Their
excellencies desire pageantry and we are eager to comply; rapier
fighters are encouraged to bring banners or other highly visible
insignias of their arms to display while fighting.
Lord Nicolai Rabenis Von Tachov has expressed interest in hosting a
chess tournament. He is currently determining the level of interest
in this and what might make a good prize.
The rapier champion will win a beautiful rapier with a guard
handcrafted by Armand Chavez de Castille, and a Dragon’s Mist
emblazoned wooden chest crafted by José Cabrera de Castilla
and Iuliana de la Sara. He or she will also receive the regalia of
the office of Champion of Dragon’s Mist.
Note:
• Pre-registration for the event will end on February 29th.
Pre-registration packets must be postmarked by that
date.
