Avacal August Investiture
Hosted by the Barony of Myrgan Wood
August 15 – 17, 2008

Their Majesties, Their Highnesses and the Barony of Myrgan Wood invite one and all to the investiture of the Heirs to the Griffon throne! As well as this joyous event, there will also be the Principality Archery and Heavy Championship tournaments! And for those interested, there will be rapier activies and a few A & S classes, taught by members of the Barony of Myrgan Wood!

Classes planned include period dancing (in the morning), how to play kubb (afternoon), and even a class about period Scotch! (evening). Please note the Scotch class will include Scotch tasting, so there is a fee of $20 and is only available to those who are 19 years of age or older. ID will be checked. More details and schedule to follow soon, but in the mean time if you’re interested in taking one of the classes contact Eira at terrina.morgan@gmail.com

This event is hosted at Eagle Creek Regional Park. Eagle Creek is located 35km West of Saskatoon on Hwy #14 and 22km North on Hwy #376. A map can be found at this address: (http://www.saskregionalparks.ca/showPark.php?id=eaglecreek) Just outside of the town of Asquith, about 45 minutes from Saskatoon.

Site fee is $17/adults for the weekend. $3 NMS surcharge will be in addition for all non-members. Children 6-16 site is $10, children 5 and under are free. There is no day fee for this event. Regular Regional Park parking fees are waived for all SCA attendees. Make cheques payable to “SCA – Myrgan Wood”

Site opens Friday at 12:00pm August 15 and closes Sunday August 17th at 5:00pm.

Fires are permitted in the fire pits that are already on site. Firewood will be provided.

Please note this site has a NO GLASS policy, which will be in effect. This rule applies to all containers, including alcohol. Please adhere to this policy.

With the wondrous news of their Majesties attending August Investiture, attendance might be higher than initially expected and camping in the main group camping area will be limited and sought after. To make it fair, camping in the main area will be delegated on a first come first serve basis, starting with pre-registered attendants. For those that don’t pre-register or show-up early enough to get a spot in the main camp, overflow camping will be available, a little ways away from the main area.

Therefore, if you are coming to Investiture we suggest you do two things: Pre-register for gate as well as a pre-register for camping space. It will be the only way to guarantee that you will be able to camp in the main camping area.

Note: All tents will be assumed to be large so the space saved will be adequate for all but some extremely large tents, so if you have an extremely large tent let us know. It is our wish to keep everyone as close to the main area as possible, without being packed. Also there will be designated Noisy and Quiet Area, so please let me know your preference as well. Please send all info to Eira at terrina.morgan@gmail.com

Thank you for your help and your understanding.
